Play to Stay Active (and try something new!)

It’s almost here! Clinton County’s Longest Day of Play will take place on June 22, 2018. Why do we hold a Longest Day of Play each year? Play is a great way to get the physical activity that helps to keep you healthy. That’s our priority!

Have you ever used a Stand-up Paddle-board? If not, here’s your chance. The Kayak Shack will have paddle-boards and kayaks available to try for free at Baggs Landing in Peru. What about Disc Golf? Frisbees take the place of golf balls at the Cadyville Disc Golf Course.  A walk, jog, or roll through the woods may be just the thing to get your heart pumping along the accessible Little Ausable River Trail. Youngsters will enjoy a carnival of activities at the U.S. Oval in Plattsburgh. Swimming is also an option at the YMCA and the CVPH Wellness and Fitness Center. A full list of activities can be found in the ‘News and Events’ section at www.clintonhealth.org

Organizations, municipalities and businesses were invited to participate in Longest Day of Play by holding low- or no-cost events that encourage physical activity. Regardless of your age or ability, play and physical activity are important for your health. The idea is to get out and be active for as much of the day as you can. This year, at least twelve groups will be offering activities at nine locations throughout the County. Many activities are held rain or shine, but visit www.clintonhealth.org to stay up-to-date on schedule changes due to weather.

So why not come out and play? We hope you will!
